History

The history and inspiration for Oaks Christian School began in 1990 when a man by the name of Dick Archer approached David Price and Dallas Price about making a donation to a new Christian elementary school that was being built in Pacific Palisades, California. Although they were not involved with this school, David and Dallas decided to make a donation anyway. Little did they know that their gift would result in God's blessing eight times over, for this school would be the place that would educate their eight grandchildren. They believed that the education their grandchildren received and the values that they were taught at this Christian elementary school were superior to other schools' offerings in the greater Los Angeles area.

As the grandchildren grew older, Dallas wondered where they might find a high school environment which would provide a similar experience for their grandchildren and others. Finding few viable choices, in March 1994, David Price and Dallas Price began searching for property in West Los Angeles to build a Christian high school.

God moved in the lives of the Prices and of Calvary Community Church to bring together strangers, fulfill the needs of both, and exceed their expectations.

Years of searching for a suitable high school property yielded few options and no success. The locations were poor, the community was in opposition, and the prices were unreasonable. Recognizing that God's timing was not the Price's timing, the project was left for future consideration.

While the Prices searched for a school site, members of Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village searched for a site to complete their vision for a new home for their 5,000 member congregation. The Church had acquired property in Thousand Oaks, but could not convince the local government or the community to support their plan. So, their search continued.

The Church concluded that, in order to purchase and renovate the property, they would have to sell half of it. They received several lucrative offers from developers and a school; however, they delayed their decision. The Elders of the Church, and specifically, the pastor's wife, had a vision to share the site with a Christian school, so they decided to pray for 60 days before making a decision. On the 58th day, Kris Thabit visited the site, and not long after, a deal was made between the Prices and Calvary Community Church.

A property once dedicated to war, is now fully dedicated to bringing God's Kingdom to Earth.
