Reflecting on this past year, I am overwhelmed with a heart of thanksgiving for what the Lord is accomplishing here at Oaks Christian.

I often drop into a class, join an advisory, watch a sporting event, or attend a performing arts show just to remind myself why we do what we do. As I observe our students, I’m reminded our purpose is not just to have great facilities or technology, but to provide our faculty, staff and coaches world-class tools and environments so they can effectively experience our school vision of “Preparing Minds for Leadership and Hearts for Service.”

This last year we went “all-in” and invested over $1 million in high school and middle school classroom and technology renovations for our new and revamped courses in STEM, robotics, rocketry, coding, quest, film, animation, and design. We purchased over 100 state-of-the-art Apple Macintosh computers and purchased new camera’s, 3D printers, and other equipment for our various labs. The response from our faculty, students, and parents has been overwhelmingly positive and students wanting to enroll in the courses has seen a sharp increase. We also recently completed a brand-new room for our high school entrepreneurship courses and our middle school library is undergoing a complete makeover with new carpeting, lighting and modular furniture to facilitate conferencing stations and collaboration.

We continue to look for opportunities to make sure our performing arts faculty and students are learning and sharing their craft using the latest stage, lighting, and audio technology. This past year we purchased new state-of-the-art digital audio and lighting consoles, new rigging motors, and new hi-resolution projectors. We are also upgrading all audio and video equipment in our Bedrosian Pavilion classrooms.

In addition to supporting our academics and performing arts, we also made significant investments in athletics. The most significant investment was the purchase of the PetBest building located near the OC Learning Center. We have closed on the purchase and will be turning this 10K square foot building into the Lions Athletic Center (LAC). The LAC will consist of a middle school sized basketball court, training area for our various cheerleading teams, general athletic training space, and serve as the new home for many of our athletic coaches and staff. We also completed a much-needed upgrade of our stadium press-box and installed a brand new 45’ flag pole so we can proudly fly the American flag.

Finally, just a quick word about environment stewardship. This past year we brought over 1,700 solar panels on-line and into full operation. We are now generating over 1 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year which prevents over 1.2 million tons of Co2 pollution from hitting our atmosphere. We also invested in new lighting and HVAC control systems in the high school which turn lights and air-conditioning and heating off when rooms are not occupied. These investments are making a positive impact on our environment and of course, reducing our overall electricity bills.

Thank you for your support and God bless!
