Fun and Philanthropy Marked the Day at OCS Golf and Ladies Tennis Tournaments

It was a beautiful, sunny day for more than 200 enthusiastic participants at the annual Oaks Christian Golf and Ladies Tennis Tournaments. Community leaders and current OCS parents and alumni enjoyed a relaxing day of comaraderie and philanthropy on Nov. 7 at the elegant Sherwood Country Club in Westlake Village.

This year marked the return of the tournaments to Sherwood after the venue had been closed for remodeling. Guest enjoyed the serene grounds and facilities, and the proceeds from both tournaments support OCS students and programs.

The annual Ladies Tennis Tournament was a rousing success this year with 36 players participating in a round-robin match. In the winners circle, Cindy Baw took home third place, Maria Lupu garnered second and Monica Bjork came in on top to win first place overall! The luncheon afterward hosted 48 women who won a variety of incredible raffle prizes donated by OCS families and local vendors. Thank you to tennis tournament chairwomen Cindy Campbell, Pamela Cole, and Lisa Iezza.

For the golfers, the day began with the always popular course contests and prizes before tee off, and ended with a silent auction with a gourmet awards dinner.

Congratulations to the first place winning foursome; Brian Pinkett, Tony High, Stuart Pascal and Jason Seymour; shout out to our second place winning foursome of Chap Morris, Tom Dann, Bob Dann, and Mike Greenslit. Closest to the Pin winner and Longest Drive winner was awarded to Stuart Pascal. The traditional end-of-day Helicopter Ball Drop was won by Joe Smith, and Kevin Lindsey walked away as the winner of the Putting Contest.

A special thanks goes to the 2016 OCS Golf Tournament Honorary Chairs Wayne and Janet Gretzky, as well as the many generous golf and tennis tournament sponsors, and to everyone who came out in support of Oaks Christian School. We also acknowledge our incredible volunteers who worked so tirelessly to ensure a smooth event. We could not do it without them!
