  • Tennis
Director Bernadette Pertulla grew up competing in USTA tennis tournaments since the age of 7, maintaining a top 5 record in each age division throughout her junior career. She reached #2 in the Southern California sections of the girls 18's at the age of 15. Throughout her tennis life, she has always pursued a professional tennis career. She moved closer to that goal when she reached a high of #4 in the nation in the girls 18's at the age of 16. Injuries and life circumstances prevented the fulfillment of that dream, however she was privileged to receive a full scholarship to play tennis for USC in both Division I doubles and singles. She played nationwide and throughout the PAC 10 from 2000-2004. She has been coaching private and group lessons since 2000 and has been competing in Women's Open Tournaments throughout the section as time allows.
Camp Description This camp will be geared toward introducing players into the game in a fun and dynamic way. The first couple of days will focus mainly on stroke technique for forehands, backhands and serves. Through the middle of the week, we'll teach the students how to volley and hit overheads. This is already a lot of ground to cover in only a few days, but our goal would be to help these beginners learn proper tennis technique that is both fun and effective. Hopefully by the last 2 days of the week, they can start rallying and playing points against one another. The camp will include fun footwork games and strengthening exercises in between, all of which is important to the entire game of tennis!
