Academy V Students Skype with NASA Astronaut
The OCS Academy V students had an “out of this world” experience recently as they enjoyed a virtual visit with astronaut Dr. Andrew Feustel. Via a Skype session arranged by the National Aeronautical and Space Administration, the 21 fifth grade students in teacher Mary Wilson’s classroom were able to talk with a current NASA astronaut in an informative and educational Q&A session.
Dr. Graham Walker Named Head of School
Graham Walker, Ph.D., was enthusiastically selected as the second head of school at Oaks Christian by a unanimous vote of the board of directors. An accomplished Ivy League instructor, scholar, author and administrator, Walker served most recently as president of Patrick Henry College and vice president of academic affairs and dean at Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
Alum Is Secretary-General of UN Campus Group
OCS alum Colton Wade, Class of 2014, has been selected as the Secretary-General of the United Nations Association of Georgetown, the premier UN Campus Advocate in the U.S. Colton is completing his freshman year at Georgetown University and will assume his official duties this fall as a sophomore. He has been serving as the organization’s Under-Deputy Secretary-General this past year.
Project Unify Makes Splash with Aquatics Debut
The Special Olympics Project Unify Club at Oaks Christian School made a splash as it debuted an aquatic tournament for Special Olympic athletes on campus earlier this month.
