Grandparents Day: November 26
Grandparents Day is a cherished OCS annual tradition. On Wednesday, November 26, 2014, grandparents and other special relatives or family friends are invited to be our guests for a morning that includes continental breakfast, student performances, and a special grandparent speaker.
Multicultural Potluck Celebrated Diversity
The OCS Diversity Committee hosted its annual OCS Multicultural Potluck on Sunday, October 26. The potluck gathered many families and was held at the home of OCMS Spanish teacher Mrs. Violetta Valadares. Throughout the year, events sponsored by the OCS Diversity Committee provide an opportunity for OCS families of different backgrounds to connect.
MS Tackle Football Team and 8th Grade Students Raise Funds for Cancer Research
On Saturday, October 11, the MS Tackle Football Team, along with nearly 40 other 8th grade students came together to raise research support and awareness for Leukemia, Lymphoma and various other types of blood cancers. Students participated in an annual Light the Night Walk fundraising campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) at Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills.
The VISION Campaign focuses on ensuring the mission of Oaks Christian School for today and the future. Current and new parents, alumni and alumni parents, and our valued grandparents are invited to participate in annual giving, capital giving, and estate and planned giving through the newly launched Oaks Christian School Endowment.
Pink Equals Love
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the middle school declared October 23 to be Pink Day! Boys and girls, faculty and staff wore pink and celebrated both Mrs. Violeta Valladares and Mrs. Sherry Armstrong who are both breast cancer survivors.
