Oaks Christian High School senior Elizabeth Sams wowed a sold-out audience as the opening act for Air Supply, the award-winning, platinum-selling rock duo whose Top 10 mega hits in the 1980s included “One that You Love,” “Making Love out of Nothing At All,” and “Even the Nights are Better.” Sams and Air Supply performed Oct. 1 on The Rose stage in charming Old Town Pasadena.
Singing hits by Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Heart and closing with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” Sams' silky-smooth, crystal-toned range earned thunderous applause from a 1,300 plus crowd. Sams also graced the audience with her original new song, titled “Let’s Get Back to Us,” soon to be released on iTunes.
Numerous Oaks Christian families came out to experience the performance firsthand and support Sams, who shared she was incredibly honored and grateful for the support and love provided by her OCS family.
No stranger to the stage, Sams has opened before for other celebrities including the legendary Jerry Lewis at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. The 17-year old has also performed in many OCS theatre productions, most recently playing a lead role in “Pippin,” the high school spring musical.
As Sams enters her senior year at Oaks Christian she is looking toward the future. She will major in music performance and minor in musical theater in college with hopes to record pop music, act for film and television, as well as perform live on Broadway.
