As the school year moves into November, fall sports finish and make way for the winter season. Oaks Christian athletics had an extremely strong fall season, highlighted by three Marmonte League champion teams.
The girls’ volleyball team won their third straight Marmonte League championship this year, again going a perfect 10-0 in league play, dropping just one set throughout the entire league schedule. Outside of league competition, the Lions were 11-10, highlighted by a 3-1 CIF-SS playoff win over South Pasadena. The Lions fell in the quarterfinals to Redondo Union before advancing to the CIF-State regional playoffs. In the regionals, the Lions faced off against Palos Verdes, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead before the hosts came back to win the next three games.
The girls’ golf team won its fourth straight Marmonte League championship this year, dominating Marmonte League competition. The Lions took first place in every single tournament, and in the overall scoring, won by 98 strokes. The Lions then advanced to the CIF-Division 1 championships at Los Serranos Golf Course. The team took 13th place, which came up just short of advancing. Junior Sunny Wang advanced to the Individual CIF Finals/SCGA qualifier, shooting a 76, which was enough for her to advance to the SCGA Southern State championship. At the championship, she shot a four-over 78, which was a tie for 47th, ending her season.
The girls’ tennis team had its best season since 2003 this year, reaching the CIF-SS Division 3 semifinals. The team then moved into Marmonte League play, and went 5-5, which was good enough for a spot in the CIF playoffs. During the Marmonte League finals, freshman Ellie Lin took second place, which qualified her for the CIF Individual Sectionals, the first time a Lion has qualified for the Individual Championship in the program’s history. During the CIF Playoffs, the Lions got hot, winning three straight matches 10-8 against West Torrance, Xavier Prep and Marymount before falling in the semifinals to Culver City, again by the score of 10-8.

The Oaks Christian football team won its 12th all-time Marmonte Legue title and first since 2018 this year. After going 3-2 in nonleague competition, the Lions went undefeated in Marmonte League play, capped off by a 13-10 victory over rival St. Bonaventure to capture the championship. The Lions then defeated Chaparral High School in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs before falling 39-14 in the second round to Mission Viejo.
