OCS alum Phil Bickford, Class of 2013, made his major league baseball debut Sept. 2, with the Milwaukee Brewers. The 25-year old, 6’ 4” pitcher was drafted to the MLB by the San Francisco Giants in 2015 and played on their minor league farm teams before being traded to the Brewers in 2016.
With the Brewers minor league teams, he pitched a total of 23 total games, starting in 22, between Augusta, San Jose and Brevard County, Bickford posted a 7-7 record and 2.93 ERA as well as striking out 135 batters in 120 combined innings between the three clubs. Bickford spent 2018 and 2019 with the Advanced Single-A Carolina Mudcats. He registered a 3-0 record, 2.48 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 20 games (32 2/3 IP) for High-A Carolina last season.
