This study provides a basic introduction to the structure and themes of the Word of God. As students journey through this survey, they will discover the truths and applications that God has provided in each book of the Bible. God’s gracious work is clear—from creation to the cross to the consummation of time.

Students immerse themselves into the rich language of novels and practice the skills of reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing, grammar, spelling, speaking, listening and handwriting.  Systematic writing process instruction expands to all areas of the curriculum, and students have opportunities for formal and informal public speaking. 

Students will investigate the storied history of The Golden State. Geographical, historical, architectural, and agricultural features will be explored and experienced through projects and interactive research.  Students learn about California’s notable historical figures, landmarks, and explore how California’s history impacts the life of citizens today. 

This course is designed to develop a strong foundation in math procedures and conceptual understandings. Attention will be given to skill fluency as well as problem solving applications as students move through the curriculum. Students will be guided towards mastery of place value, operations with whole numbers and fractions, foundational measurements and geometry. 

The dynamic science program integrates life, earth, and physical sciences.  Students use the scientific method to drive learning in each unit. Project based activities and labs promote curiosity and foster the development of inquiry skills. 

The maker-space program provides hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, engineer, and create as they deeply engage in scientific inquiry, the design process, and most of all tinkering.  

In Grade 4 music, students will learn about beat and rhythm--how to keep a steady beat and also how to read/perform rhythms.  Students will also start learning the basics of sight reading--how to sing the solfege scale, singing in tune, and how to read/sing notes based.  They will also focus on learning good vocal technique, while applying each of these skills by playing various instruments throughout the year. Finally, fourth grade students will also participate in our annual Christmas pageant in December. 

This course allows students to build confidence, character, and sportsmanship through play and sport. Students learn basic movement skills and utilize them in team sports, allowing students to work together and strategize as a group. 

Through exploring California history, students will create artwork which reflects many of the historical and cultural elements related to the state. These include paintings of the various natural regions, artwork from the missions, and drawings related to the California State symbols.  

Students learn to utilize the resources in the Fardad Family Library and Collaboration Center, apply digital citizenship and research skills, while growing in literacy and literature appreciation.  Additional instruction and practice with Google Suite fundamentals and block-based coding fosters digital collaboration and creativity. 

Students engage in a basic knowledge of the Latin and Spanish languages through songs, chants, stories, games, history, and culture. Having fun while learning a new language brings excitement and a desire to learn more.
