Heritage Months Commemorated

Hispanic Heritage, Black History, Asian American Pacific Islander, and International Women's Month are commemorated with special literary displays in the library. Books by authors about the culture being honored help the OCS community learn more about and appreciate the contributions of those recognized.

Curriculum Collaboration

The library collaborates with academic departments to bring classroom knowledge to life! The Annual Great Gatsby celebration in the Crockett Family Atrium is a culmination, complete with costumes, music, and food, of the English students' study of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel set in the 1920s.

National Poetry Month

Aspiring poets can read their original works or the works of established poets when the library celebrates National Poetry Month each April. In addition, faculty, staff, and administrators can join the festivities with their own works or oratory skills. Classic, avant-garde, and eclectic are just a few of the genres.

Holiday Celebrations

The library celebrates holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas with fun literary displays to commemorate the history and traditions of these special holidays. From a thankfulness table welcoming grandparents on Grandparents' Day to a Christmas tree made out of books, holidays are always fun at the library!
