OC Learning Center Summer Courses
The OC Learning Center is excited to offer multiple enrichment options to help your student stay sharp over the summer and prepare for the next school year or receive support for a summer school class they are taking. These courses are available to students in grades 4 through 8. Our summer sessions include Math and Reading, Writing, and Grammar. We also offer private tutoring for both middle and rising high school students who want to get ahead or gain an advantage before school starts in the fall.

Dates: Grammar & Composition: August 7
Rhetoric & Style: August 8
Argumentation & American Ideology: August 9
Time: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Instructor: Travis Ritchie
Grammar & Composition: Students will learn annotating techniques and discuss the main plot ideas, characters, and themes of the requires summer reading book.
Rhetoric & Style: Students will discuss the use of language as a persuasive technique in the requires summer reading book as well as ways in which the language upholds the themes of the novel.
Argumentation & American Ideology: Students will discuss the literary devices of metaphor and allegory as they pertain to the requires summer reading book examining how these devices demonstrate the author’s ideology.
High School: $65 per hour on campus/$75per hour at home
(Save by purchasing a package of 10 sessions in advance for $600)
Elementary/Middle School: $55 per 50 minutes on campus/$65 per 50 minutes at home
(Save by purchasing a package of 10 sessions in advance for $500)

Executive functioning skills are critical to academic success. Students are expected to have the ability to organize themselves, plan ahead, and interpret and retain large amounts of information simultaneously. This workshop will give students the skills they are never explicitly taught but are expected to have. Help your student get ready for the new school year by attending this interactive and skill-oriented workshop!

Cognitive skills are the basic skills that an individual use to process information to learn and function effectively in school and day to day life. Upon completion of the BrainMatterZ Cognitive Skills training program you can expect to see improvement in your students auditory processing, visual processing, and attention/focus, memory.
