Intro to Digital Recording (1 Semester) - Students will begin to explore the basic functions of multi-track recording through the Soundtrap platform. Soundtrap is a web-based Digital Audio Workstation that works well on any computer, either Mac or Windows, tablets, Chromebooks, and all Smartphones. Recording Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI), importing MIDI and Audio Loops, making a podcast, and building a multi-track project will be some of the innovative projects that students will complete during this semester course. Intro to Digital Recording is a significant first step into the world of music production.

Digital Recording - The Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) format of Apple’s Logic Pro X will be taught. Students will learn primary Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) and audio recording and editing of recorded tracks and regions. An overview of the essential functions of Logic Pro X will be presented so that students can record their multi-track projects at the end of the course and convert them to an mp3 format.

Advanced Digital Recording - The Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) of Apple’s Logic Pro X and Avid Pro Tools will be taught and explored in depth. Students will expand on their knowledge of MIDI, and audio recording and editing recorded tracks and regions. Post-production techniques and writing to picture and film scoring will be investigated. Students will learn how to mix their projects using panning, EQ, compression, reverb, delay, sends, and auxiliary tracks.
