Why is it called Malachi's Closet?
- Our program was named by OCS student Cayton Coburn to honor the memory of Malachi Smith, the three-year-old son of Wes and Rachel Smith, who passed away on October 29, 2009 of leukemia. Wes Smith is the OCS Head Athletic Trainer and a coach. Malachi’s Closet supports the OCS Financial Aid Program and a portion of the proceeds are donated to Literally Healing at Children’s Hospital, a program that the Smith family benefited from in their time spent at Children's Hospital, Los Angeles. To date, over $70,000 has been raised through this program.
"But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them,
yet not I, but the grace of God with me."
