Create the online admissions application account and send the letters of recommendation forms. Letters of recommendation are strictly submitted electronically through the online admissions application and can be generated prior to completing the online admissions application.

Schedule the student and parent interview. Once the online admissions application is submitted, you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule the interview. The interview consists of meeting with the applicant for about 15 minutes and both parents for about 30 minutes. 

After the admissions application is submitted, applicants are required to take the Oaks Christian School admissions entrance exam (NWEA MAP Growth Test). The MAP Growth Test is an individualized test that provides a side by side look at the academic success of prospective students in comparison to current Oaks Christian students. 

Grade 4 and Academy V applicants will be taking the test here on campus.  Sixth through eleventh grade applicants will be taking the test online from home.

For enrollment for fall 2024, we require copies in PDF form of the applicant's academic records to be emailed to: transcripts@oakschristian.org from

• the first semester report card and/or progress report for 2023-2024
• copies of any standardized testing
• any discipline reports

If you do not have copies at home or access to them online, please sign and submit the Release of School Records to the applicant’s school. The deadline to receive the applicant's school records is February 2, 2024. We also require parents to bring the applicant's original birth certificate with them to the student and parent interview which we will copy and return.

After the admissions application is submitted, all Oaks Christian School domestic applicants will complete an online entrance exam called the NWEA MAP Growth Test. This individualized test provides a side by side look at the academic success of prospective students in comparison to current Oaks Christian students. MAP provides a detailed projection of how an applicant would acclimate to Oaks Christian’s curriculum in the future. For the NWEA MAP Growth Test at Oaks Christian, applicants will complete three sections: math, English, and reading. There is no preparation necessary as the exam assesses current knowledge; however, resources, such as practice tests, can be found on the Oaks Christian website or by visiting the MAP Family Toolkit. On the exam, there is no penalty for guessing and if students feel “stuck” on a question, they are encouraged to move on. The test is looking for a student’s “Proximal Zone of Development” or, in other words, the student’s “academic sweet spot” for what the student knows and what direction they are headed. An additional benefit of the NWEA MAP Growth Test is that our current Oaks Christian students complete the test as a benchmark multiple times throughout the year, providing your family with tangible ways to track your child’s continued success while at Oaks Christian School!

How many admissions applications do you receive?

We receive around 700 applications for 200+ openings. Because of the competitive ratio of applications to openings available, it is important to pay close attention to all deadlines when completing the application and submitting pertinent information.

How many students are at Oaks Christian School?
For the 2023-2024 school year, we will have 1,664 enrolled students. The average class size is 15. The breakdown is as follows:

• 589 in the Grade 4, Academy V,  and Middle School (Grades 4-8)
• 1,075 in the High School (Grades 9-12)

What are your minimum GPA and MAP entrance exam test scores? 
Since we evaluate the whole student when reviewing an application for admission, it is difficult to place an absolute minimum requirement for admission. We take into consideration many parts of the application when determining if the applicant is a good fit for Oaks Christian School. Grades, entrance exam test scores, and Christian values and commitment are three very important factors. In addition, we also pay close attention to recommendations, leadership and significant extracurricular involvement, as well as the admission interview with the student and parent(s).

Are students placed in a wait pool?
Our admissions process is like the college admissions process. We begin taking applications in September of the year prior to intended enrollment. Every applicant that applies by the February 1 deadline is considered in the same manner. We accept the best overall applicants from the group. Generally, we have more qualified applicants than openings. Each year, we place a limited number of applicants in a wait pool. The wait pool is not ranked. If spaces become available, the committee will reconvene to reconsider all candidates in the wait pool.  Should space not be available for the 2024-2025 academic year, we hope that applicants will consider reapplying for the 2025-2026 school year.
