Open to all students who play stringed instruments associated with Western European traditions. This is not a beginning-level class; all students must have prior playing experience to qualify for membership in the Orchestra. Styles of music will include traditional orchestral music of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th century, as well as popular rock and jazz literature. Music theory, improvisation, and chamber music performance practice will also be included. At least one public performance will be presented each quarter.

Oaks Christian Orchestras boast a full complement of strings, including violin, viola, cello, and bass. Students develop foundational techniques in the middle school ensembles that ready them for a broad range of performance opportunities in high school. Our ensembles regularly perform throughout the school year, performing works from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods and pieces from contemporary genres, including rock, jazz, and alternative music. Collaboration is key to our success as a Performing Arts department. The high school orchestra works closely with the choirs, symphonic, and jazz bands to create unforgettable musical experiences for students and audiences. These partnerships translate into engaging and exciting concerts and events which have become one of the distinctive elements of Oaks Christian School. Chamber Strings, the high school honors string ensemble, is made up of the orchestra's top students, who perform at various school functions and community events. Advanced members of the middle school ensembles also have opportunities to perform with the high school orchestra and for other school and community events throughout the year.
