OCS tight end and Stanford commit Colby Parkinson has been selected to join an elite class as a 2017 US Army All-American. Parkinson will play in the annual East vs. West matchup on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 in the Alamodome in San Antonio,Texas. The Bowl will be nationally televised live on NBC at 12:00pm CST and will feature the nation’s top 100 high school football players.
Parkinson is the 10th OCS player selected for this honor.
Parkinson received his yellow Bowl jersey during a special assembly amid the enthusiastic applause of the entire high school student body, as well as family and coaches.
The 6’7” senior is rated the top high school tight end nationwide on several sport recruiting sites.
“Like US Army soldiers, these players have demonstrated leadership, adaptability, discipline and teamwork,” said Mark S. Davis, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for marketing. “Parkinson has demonstrated that he is innovative both on and off the football field, and we are pleased to welcome him to this year’s elite team of US Army All-American Bowl athletes.”
As a result of Parkinson being selected for the Bowl presented by American Family Insurance, OCS Head Football Coach Jim Benkert is invited to travel to San Antonio to attend the U.S. Army Coaches Academy, a three-day learning experience, and participate in Bowl Week activities.
