Oaks Christian School welcomes aboard Jennifer McCurtis as the newly-appointed middle school dean of student life. As the new dean, McCurtis will oversee student leadership and life, including organizing student events such as spirit assemblies, spirit/fun dress days and other student activities. She will also be responsible for student discipline.
McCurtis moves to her new position from the high school academic deans office where she served as the director of academic services for the past two years.
With a deep love and passion for working with students, McCurtis says, "I am looking forward to being able to build relationships with the students. I love kids and get so much joy out of being able to work with middle school students. I am excited to be a part of guiding them in the right direction, and to utilize my skills and talents in an area I am passionate about."
McCurtis holds a bachelors degree in psychology from Cal State Channel Islands and a masters in counseling and guidance from California Lutheran University. She is also holds a Pupil Personnel Services school counseling credential.
Middle School Principal Garett Freeman calls McCurtis a natural fit for the position and anticipates her positive contribution to the middle school .
"Her background in psychology and counseling bring a tremendous asset to our team. She loves middle school students and wants to advocate for them as they grow at Oaks. I couldn't be happier about her coming on board to the middle school administrative team," he shared.
