Early in March, Oaks Christian School announced the appointment of Roland Williams as the new director of football operations and Charles E. Collins as the offensive coordinator and interim head football coach.
Oaks Christian is now pleased to announce Collins has been officially appointed as the varsity head football coach and offensive coordinator for the OCS Lions.
Head Coach Collins returns to the Lions after serving last year as Oaks Christian's offensive coordinator, directing the team's highly successful passing attack during last year's CIF championship season. Collins, a former All-American wide receiver at Cal State University, Northridge, went on to play professionally for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. His coaching experience began at Santa Monica Community College where he worked with NFL notables Steve Smith and Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson.
Collins' coaching experience includes coaching as a receiver coach for the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals, and as the offensive coordinator for the Edmonton Eskimos. Collins also served as the head varsity coach at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, a powerhouse football program that had won back-to-back city championships in previous years.
He is affectionately referred to by the athletes he works with as "Coach C" and has been highly successful in helping high school athletes throughout California earn college scholarships. A member of the Football University's instructional staff, Collins works with youth American football wide receivers in major cities across the United States.
