Orchestra Director Featured on Women in Music Panel

OCS Orchestra Director Mary Kay Altizer will be honored to speak on a panel of prominent women in the music industry discussing their diverse careers as well as their views on the changing face of the music industry. The event takes place Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at California Lutheran University. All OCS community members are invited to attend, and we especially welcome our female performing arts students to take advantage of this event.

Panelists will tell unique stories covering a wide variety of career options within the industry and advice as to how to pursue them. The goal of this event is to inspire young women with a passion for music to explore careers in the music industry and to reveal pathways to achieve and sustain success. Please RSVP by Friday, Oct 19.

Altizer has spearheaded innovative initiatives for OCS students, including the partnership with the Academy of Music and Business in Sweden. The partnership helped students connect globally and collaborate with modern technology and also aspired to teach music students the marketing and business side of music.

She was also most recently honored by her alma mater, Azusa Pacifc University, as an Alumna of the Year for her innovative teaching integrating technology in the classroom.
