2026 Fall Sports Preview

FOOTBALL
First-year Head Coach Rudy Carlton makes his coaching debut this fall, and the Lions are looking to win their first league title since 2023. Senior Alifeleti Tuihalamaka, who’s committed to USC, will lead the Lions on the offensive and defensive lines. Safety Josh Tyler, offensive lineman Cooper Moir, wide receiver Xavier Burkett and quarterback Niko Bladow round out the leadership. The Lions finished last season as CIF-SS Div. 4 semifinalists.

GIRLS' FLAG FOOTBALL
Last year, the Lady Lions laid the foundation in the program’s inaugural season. This year, the Lady Lions want to build off that foundation and compete for a spot in the CIF-SS playoffs. They opened the preseason portion of their schedule beating Valencia 19-6. Freshman quarterback Mia Wright is the leader of the offense. She tossed three touchdowns in that first game. Audrey Simic, Addie Davis, and Adie Bernd return to lead the Lions offensive attack. The Lions have athleticism on both sides of the ball with the addition of track and field athletes Savanah Williams, Chiara Baker, Mya Redeaux, and Gemma Chababi. The Lions are 4-3 to start the season. The program has grown in it's second year to include a junior varsity team.

BOYS' WATER POLO
For the last two seasons, the Lions have been knocking on the door of the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs. Known as the most competitive water polo league in the country, the Lions have been eliminated in the semifinals in the last two seasons. This year, they have their sights set on busting down the door and playing in the championship game at Mt. San Antonio College. Ryder Bjork returns in as goalie for the Lions. Josh Coxford, Yuri Davtyan, Jack Lansing, and Andrew Wentz return for the Lions.

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL
After qualifying for the CIF-SS Div. 1 playoffs last year and falling in the first round, the Lions want to get back and go further this season. They have a loaded roster that will allow them to compete deep into November. The Lions are led by seniors Trystyn Bailey and Ellie Hallinan. Malie Ogbechie and Elyse Wong will be impact players for the Lions.  The Lady Lions are 3-0 to start the season and haven't dropped a set yet.

GIRLS' GOLF
The Lady Lions are looking to replicate last season’s success. They tied for the best finish in program history, finishing in the top 10 of the Southern California Golf Association Qualifier.  Maya Brown, Carinna Rao, and Arianna Barry are returning and look to lead the Lady Lions

GIRLS' TENNIS
The defending CIF-SS Div. 4 champions are back and have their eyes set on repeating. The Lady Lions knocked off Marmonte League rival Agoura in a thrilling championship match last season. No. 1 singles player Ellie Lin returns for her senior campaign and looks to build on her impressive junior season. Sophia Yu slots in as the Lions No. 2 singles player.

BOYS' BEACH VOLLEYBALL
The defending Marmonte Beach League Champions are back at Will Rogers State Beach this season and looking to defend their title. The Lions are coming off their most successful season in program history where every team within the program finished fourth place or better in the final standings.

BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY
The Lions are fast. Arize Nwosu, the last remaining scorer on the 2024 state championship team, is a senior this year. He’s poised to have his best year for the Lions. Rising Sophomore Sterling White looks to build off his California record-breaking freshman campaign. River Lisenby, Jaryt Chen, and Dean Watson will provide depth to the program. Freshman Jude York is a newcomer to watch. Coach Wes Smith calls him one of the best freshmen in school history.

GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY

After developing during her junior year, Senior Madelyn Galle leads a group of young talented runners. Newcomers to watch include Autumn Gersmeyer, Lilly Mills, and Katie Winterkrans. Head coach Wes Smith thinks the program has enough talent to continue its run of five consecutive trips to the state finals in Clovis.
