Alumni Head to Paris Olympics

Alumni Head to Paris Olympics

Oaks Christian School is thrilled that two OCS water polo alumni will represent the United States in the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad. Amanda Longan, class of 2015 and Adrian Weinberg, class of 2019 will head to Paris, France later this month.

Opening ceremonies are set for Friday, July 26, with the water polo competition beginning on July 27 for the women and July 28 for the men. Olympic competition runs through Aug. 11.

Both goalkeepers for their respective teams, Longan will compete in her second Olympics, while this will be Weinberg’s first.

Longan, a University of Southern California graduate, won gold with the United States in 2021, when the United States defeated Spain 14-5 in the gold medal match. She made her Olympic debut in the quarterfinal round, where the Americans defeated the Canadian national team 16-5. She relieved Ashleigh Johnson after the third quarter, and played the last eight minutes of the game, finishing with an impressive three saves.

Weinberg is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he led the Golden Bears to three-straight NCAA championships. He has had a stellar post-college career with Team USA, playing in three World Championships, and notching more than 150 saves throughout the tournaments.
