Record breakers
Hannah Brady and Christian Knoos have been impact players in their programs for the last four years.
Brady has been a star libero for the OCS girls’ volleyball program since her freshman year. Similarly, Christian Knoos has been a starting linebacker for the Lions since he stepped on campus in 2021. Both have been key players for their programs for the last four years.
Brady recently surpassed the 1,000-dig mark becoming Oaks Christian’s all-time leader in the category.
“I honestly had no idea that I was approaching that record, so it was a surprise to me,” Brady said. “It meant a lot that my family could be there and that everyone took the time to support and celebrate me.”
Brady’s milestone dig came in the second set against La Canada. At the time, the Lions had dropped the first two sets. The Lions would mount a furious three-set comeback to win the match in a five-set thriller.
“This all happened in the middle of a loss, so it was kind of hard to have all of attention on me while we were having such a rough game,” Brady said. “It did feel like that moment kind of lit up the room a little bit and reminded us that volleyball is all about having fun.”
Julie Bennet has been Brady’s coach at Oaks Christian for the last four years and has admired her growth.
“There’s not many freshmen that are starting libero’s,” Bennet said. “For Hannah to be in that role for four years is huge and it’s a testament to her hard work and dedication during her time here.”
Knoos broke the Oaks Christian career-tackle mark during the week one game against Sierra Canyon.
Knoos broke the record previously held by Casey Matthews. Matthews graduated from Oaks Christian in 2007, before playing at the University of Oregon and four seasons in the National Football League with the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Breaking Casey Matthew’s record really means a lot to me because he’s one of those guys you hear about who played in this program and got to the pros,” Knoos said. “I’m a competitive person and I want to break every record, but it’s more important to me that I’m leaving a legacy here.”
Knoos is a four-year starter who grew up playing alongside middle linebacker Matt Erhardt. Erhardt graduated in 2022.
“He really helped me develop my game a lot because me and him were the only linebackers on the field at all times,” Knoos said. “I’m sure it must have been frustrating for him those first couple years because I was really getting pushed around as a freshman.”
Knoos has developed his game becoming faster, smarter, and stronger. His 399 total tackles are a testament to his growth.
