Wessel Named New Cheer Coach

Wessel Named New Cheer Coach

The Oaks Christian athletic department announces the hiring of Amanda Wessel as the new head coach of the high school cheer program.

Wessel brings her professional experience as a cheerleading coach at Pomona Catholic High School, and her own personal experience as a cheerleader at Cal Baptist University.

She is an elementary school teacher at Oaks Christian and will continue in that role in addition to stepping into the head cheer coach position.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to invest in and grow a program that values both excellence and character development,” Wessel said. “What excites me most about the OCS cheer program is the chance to build meaningful relationships with student-athletes while creating a culture rooted in trust, accountability, and Christ-centered leadership.”

OCS Head of Athletics Dr. Brad Cook made the appointment after a thorough interview process.

“I’m excited about her already being a part of the Oaks Christian community. She has a genuine love and willingness to serve our students.” Cook said. “She’ll be able to use her past experience as a coach and cheerleader to help guide her as she continues to grow our cheer program.”

Wessel says she’s looking forward to using cheer to shape the next generation of Lion cheerleaders.

“Some of my most influential mentors and life lessons came through cheer, which is why I care so deeply about creating that same experience for young athletes today,” Wessel said.
